Project Context
Khazna Data Centers is the UAE's largest data centre provider, created when Etisalat Group and G42 combined their data centre portfolios under the Khazna brand. Its facilities are concentrated around Abu Dhabi and Dubai, with recent Abu Dhabi projects including AUH6 in Masdar City and a new 30MW facility in Mafraq.
Hyperscale facilities like these rely on standby generators, fuel storage and refuelling areas to keep critical systems running. Every one of these zones carries a risk of diesel or oil reaching the surface water drainage network through spills, leaks or contaminated run-off.
On a site built for continuous operation, the drainage system has to intercept hydrocarbons reliably and stay watertight at every joint. A single failed connection or untreated discharge could mean environmental non-compliance and disruption to a facility designed never to stop.
The Solution
BS EN 858 tested separators that capture oil before it leaves the site, connected into the network with flexible, oil-resistant seals.
Marsh oil separators use coalescing filters, weirs and automatic closure devices to separate and retain oil from surface water run-off. Full-retention units treat the entire flow from higher-risk fuel areas, with the Marsh range achieving discharge results below 0.1mg/litre.
Marsh tanks are built to withstand the ground and climate conditions of the region, giving long service life with straightforward maintenance and inspection access.
VIPSeal® adaptor couplings join pipes of different materials and diameters into the separators and chambers. Nitrile sleeves are available for added oil resistance in hydrocarbon zones.
VIPSeal® puddle flanges seal pipes where they pass through concrete chamber walls and structures. NBR versions provide resistance to oil and fuel, keeping every penetration secure.
Together, these products create a closed drainage path: hydrocarbons are intercepted before discharge, and the connections that carry run-off into and out of the separators remain sealed against leaks and ingress.
Project Outcome
The drainage network is designed to discharge clean surface water while retaining oil from fuel and generator areas, protecting the site's environmental compliance.
With Marsh and VIP Seal supplied as one coordinated package, DND ensures that separators and connections are specified to work together, so that the correct products arrive approved and ready to install, first time.
